Our Philosophy
Waldorf-Inspired, Inclusive Care
At Mossy Puddle, we honor the magic of childhood by embracing neurodiversity and meeting each child with warmth and respect. Rooted in Waldorf and nature-based learning, our play-based program nurtures curiosity and confidence through hands-on experiences like gardening and storytelling.
In our cozy, home-based setting, children grow at their own pace in a calm, caring environment. Mossy Puddle is more than childcare—it’s a place to explore, belong, and thrive.
Why Waldorf?
While I'm not a Waldorf purist—you won’t find the traditional bowl of barley for breakfast here—I deeply value how the philosophy supports the whole child. The emphasis on rhythm brings comfort and predictability to the day, creating a calm, secure environment that encourages rich, open-ended play. All of our toys are intentionally simple and versatile, allowing children’s imaginations to take the lead.
This kind of focused, creative play builds the foundation for future academic learning. When we introduce early literacy and math, it's done joyfully and gently—in playful moments that last less than two minutes at a time—always keeping the child's developmental readiness at the center.
Food should nourish.
At Mossy Puddle, we believe that food should do more than just fill little bellies—it should nourish, comfort, and inspire. That’s why we provide wholesome, home-cooked breakfasts, lunches, and snacks, ensuring that every child in our care is well-fed and satisfied.
What does inclusion mean?
Inclusion means every child is valued, supported, and given what they need to thrive. We strive to accommodate each child so they feel secure, understood, and able to grow at their own pace.
At Mossy Puddle, experienced caregivers provide individualized support with patience, warmth, and insight. This includes sensory-friendly spaces, communication support, and a flexible approach that honors each child’s unique way of learning and being.
Children of all abilities and neurotypes play and learn together in a community built on respect, kindness, and trust. Most of all, inclusion means every child truly belongs—just as they are.

Tucked away on five forested acres, Mossy Puddle offers children abundant opportunities to explore, play, and connect with nature. A large, fully fenced yard ensures safety while providing space to run, dig, climb, and discover. Seasonal gardening, water play, and rich sensory experiences invite curiosity and foster a deep love for the natural world—all within the boundaries of our thoughtfully designed outdoor space.
